I’ve never done well at staying in one place; I was born in Ohio, grew up in Canada, attended college in Kentucky, and now find myself in Moab, Utah. I started skydiving shortly after turning 18, and started BASE jumping 6 months later. Now, I have over 400 BASE jumps; all made around the United States. I currently work as a web programmer. I enjoy working on a computer, and am a problem solver at heart. Being able to work remotely has allowed me to have the flexibility to do the things I want to do.
I enjoy BASE jumping because of the adventure that comes with it. Skydiving is a sport that takes place in designated areas, and is overly multifaceted (plane, pilot, fuel, airport etc). Although I do enjoy skydiving, BASE jumping brings a lot more to me. With BASE, I spend days and sometimes weeks exploring canyon and cliffs, in order to be the first one to ever jump off them.
Lately, my focus has shifted to paragliding and speedflying. I like these 2 sports for the same reasons I like BASE jumping. They are new and different, and both very challenging. Unlike all other parachutes I have experience with, you have to actively pilot a paraglider to keep it stable and inflated. This is a challenge in itself.
About Missy:
So, a long story short:
I was dropped off at a pound when I was 6 months old. I was cooped there for 12 months until my mom & dad saved me. They’re awesome!! I started off being scared of people, but now I’m learning that people rock! I currently live in Moab, Ut, and am almost 3 years old!
On a regular basis, I:
-hike around the desert
-visit the mountains
-watch people jump off cliffs
-hang out with highliners
-go climbing/bouldering
-run down a hill really fast chasing mom & dad paragliding/speedflying
I’ve been the black canyon, the grand canyon, the wind rivers, and all over moab! I love it here!!
Some more info about me:
I like water. I like traveling. I love being in the car. My middle name is “Mountain”. I love hiking. No dogs can catch me. None. I just learned how to fetch. This guy Hecker scares me. I love brett & mick. Mick gives me beer & wine when mom & dad aren’t watching! One day I will paraglide. I want to do the south side of the point.
